Furniture assessment starts with the product and how it will be used. A chair, a storage unit and a table present different questions, and domestic, office and other use contexts should not be treated as interchangeable. Define the product before selecting a test Record the furniture type, intended users, use environment, configuration and relevant design features. Use that description to select standards with an appropriate scope. A test report for one configuration may not establish performance for a changed product. When reviewing supplier evidence, check the exact model, test method, standard edition, results and any limitations.
