EN 71-2 addresses toy flammability. The published consolidated reference EN 71-2:2020+A1:2025 combines the 2020 standard with its 2025 amendment. Confirm the exact document before comparing test reports or ordering a copy.

What does EN 71-2 cover?

The standard identifies prohibited categories of flammable materials and sets requirements for specified toys exposed to a small ignition source. Particular categories include certain head-worn toys, disguise costumes, toys children can enter and soft-filled toys.

These tests address defined conditions. Their results do not establish how a toy will behave under every other source of ignition. Additional flammability requirements for electric toys are addressed separately in EN IEC 62115.
