EN 1090 Explained: Product Scope and Execution Standards
EN 1090 is relevant to structural steel and aluminium work, but the material alone does not determine whether a product falls within EN 1090-1. Establish the component's intended use and the applicable product-assessment route before making a CE-marking claim. Different parts serve different purposes EN 1090-1 concerns assessment of conformity of structural components. EN 1090-2 and EN 1090-3 address execution requirements for steel and aluminium structures respectively. A reference to an execution standard is not a substitute for checking the product scope and the applicable regulatory requirements.
